I have got material samples of ptex in loads of colours inc florestent colours pretty sure pink and green are in there, so they must be available somewhere to buy. I think the samples were form IMS (think in austria) but can't be too sure as they are in my office.
If the repair does not last they might be worth giving a shout |

I followed up Wildebeest's post about Snow and Rock and the pink p-tex. Got my answer today.
My question=
Hello, I heard a rumour on a forum about someone having a snowboard repaired at Snow and Rock with pink p-tex. Is this true? Coloured P-tex. I'm looking for a lime green fluorescent colour for my board. Also if you have it can you send it to Austria? Cheers Gordon.
Reply from Snow and Rock=
Dear Mr
Thank you for your recent email enquiry,
Unfortunately, I have not heard of that product .
You could always call the manufacturer direct for a quicker response.
That made me smile Anyhow the board is repaired and ready to test tomorrow on the new snow thats falling as I type. |

Yeah. like, cheer up!.. It's not that bad!!.. It's a core shot and in a bad place but it's not the end of the board!..
I had a couple of similar chunks outa my otherwise pristine Supermodel afer bouncing from rock to rock between pistes on the Grands Montets at Xmas, looked like I'd trashed it, repaired it with candles and both repairs survived 2 weeks of ridge bashing at Kicking Horse ..
As Wildebeest says, get it fixed and fix it again as & when you need to.. no big deal..
As for a warranty claim - forget it.. You rode over a rock - how is that the manufacturers fault?.. |

I lied, it was a Nitro Fate....
Get it Ptexed. If it's a half decent job it will stay in unless you have a direct hit on that part of the board. |

I'd still consider trying a warranty claim - worst they can say is no... at best they may offer you a new 09 board with Banana |

| It's not just the on the edge its right under my toe on the rear binding. Sounds like the whole board is for the scrapheap from what you are saying. This sorry tale is getting worse. Still it may just work. Got to be worth a try. I'm not the most extreme snowboarder so it will not get so much abuse. Time will tell. Off for a week at the end of the month. Will do a day next weekend to try it out. |

bieng near the edge makes a difference because its more likely to come out .
the edge is a very used part of the bored lots of pressures and such around that part of the board so ptex jobs next to edges rarely stay in.
as for warranty on a base gouge you wont get it.
if your had the edge coming away from the base of the board or sidewall splitting out then you might though. |

| A friend had her Vista repaired with the original pink Ptex. That was done through snow and c*ck, so it may be worth giving them a go. |

| Yep it the Travis. The guy who said about the repair was the guy who sold it to me. Perhaps he will chase it up with Lib for me. £400 lol. I got it for €400. I did check on xe.com at the time and it worked out at £270, exchage rate is different now but can't beat that for a bargin. That's one of the reasons I'm so gutted its damaged. |

Gutted about the damage on such a fine board (Travis ?) For a £400+ board I would definetly try a warranty claim - nothing ventued, nothing gained ! |

It was just on a rock that was on the piste. Didn't even see it til afterwards when I picked it up and threw it into the trees in absolute board rage. Was cruising along when I heard the noise and felt the shudder under me. It got the board in two places. The other one is not bad and will be away with waxing.
Could the warranty cover that kind of damage? I just figured it is a wear and tear, normal use thing that happens situation. Having said that I have heard nothing but good things about Lib Tech customer service recently. Perhaps I should try. |

I wouldn't have thought Magnetraction would make the slightest bit of difference - an edge is an edge, surely ? Saying that, I'd get it done by a shop than a DIY attempt.
How did you do it ? Any chance of a warranty job ? |

Chatted to the guy at my local shop and he can repair it both ways. He thinks putting a new piece in will be difficult because it is right up against the magnetraction edge. I'm sure that makes next to no difference so will ask at the other shops in town and try get it sorted.

Repair candles come in black & clear - that's all..
2 x 0.5 cms is quite a chunk.. you could try to fix it yourself (no harm in trying) but I imagine it wouldn't last long.. I imagine building it up slowly would give the best results rather than trying to fill it in one go..
a shop can glue a new piece in which should last better but will probably be black..
personally I wouldn't worry about it matching too much.. no-one ever sees the base, unless it's outside the bar, and if they do then repairs are like scars - they're cool & chicks dig 'em..
Honestly.. |
