Can't wait for their new website, I quite fancied the Union contacts in orange but the datas sound comfy!

Sent an email to Union last night asking a few questions. Got an answer in a few hours -

My question was 'what's the differeence between the Force DXL, Force & Data models.'

Hey man. Check the website in a couple days. We’re just finishing up the new one.

To answer your question...

The Force DLX got replaced by a new binding called the Force SL. The SL is for “Super Light”. It’s basically a really light version of the Force.

The Force and Data are relatively similar, but the Data is a bit heavier, due to more padding on the straps and highbacks.

With that said, the Data is not heavy at all. So to answer your question, you should probably go with the Data. It’s the most comfy binding.

QUOTE (eno - 31/08/2008 @ 14:10:22)

I also tried some Union Force which were sexy as hell but unfortunately the strap dug into my little toe no matter how we set them up.

had same problem with mine, but after getting use to set them up i don't have it anymore. Quite good binding in my opinion!

Cheers Mr Dabra, it was actually the 09 Unions I tried on so maybe I might be better with some '08s?

Never had any problems with my T9's, they keep going strong. I am however glad I chose the Unions over last seasons T9's as they looked bulkier than previous years.

Unions have a new toe strap design for 09, which should resolve these issues - They are hands down the best bindings out there.

Wu Tang Clan aint nothing to f++k with, but T9 are, never has such a blatant waste of plastic and metal been mounted to so many boards, if your a wigga then you'll love em, but seeing as i am older than 14 they only serve as a source of mirth to me that anyone would actually ride these pieces of sh!t. Fo shizzle.

Salomon are also great, i put a season on the the original Relay Pros, and liked them a lot, though they work a lot better if you rock the strap ol school rather than capped. The actually fitted my Ions better than any Burton bindings, however i would check that your boots fit the Relay bindings as i fund that some boots just dont fit em

However having ridden Union for the past 2 seasons, they have the edge for me.

I'm not a fan of Burton bindings.

Your best bet for freestyle bindings is the Salomon Relay series. I've been on Pros and XLTs for the past season and would give them up for the world. Before that I was on Ride MVMNT series (both Alphas and Betas) but the Salomons are so comfy I can't give them up.

The Auto is a good binding too and has no issue with wire as long as its been warrantied. The 09 is even better and has a really good highback design. The Formulas are good too, just a bit softer so more for jibs than hits.

As mentioned in the Gear For Sale section, Hot-Zone have 50% off 07/08 hardgoods, so you can pick up Rome 390 for £80, Ride Betas for £105, or Cartels for around £90.

Sale finishes today though.

Thanks Chr15, have you got some? Any reasons you'd reccommend them?

I like the sound of the canted baseplate & highbacks. Looks like a demo ride is on the cards for next weekend.
