Having worked with many Australians these past two winters in the Niseko area, they've told me that if you do a season in one of the Australian ski areas you will know very quickly whether instructing is for you.
You will experience all the bad aspects of instructing - class sizes too large, overcrowded slopes, lack of snow, rain - as well as the good [hopefully > |

That's a great and acurate article there Sinbad. Hotham would be my choice or Perisher plenty of options to get away form the hellish crowds. It was what i was trying to get at with my comment before, we may not have the snow but we have plenty of everything else including character. |

| Though I would agree that NZ is the better choice for a season - snowboarding Australia still looks like it would be pretty fun - and certainly a very unique experience. |

| Not sure if it's still applicable, but instructors looking for work in NZ generally had to turn up at the beginning of the season for a sort of 'ride off' that you had to pay for in advance before being offered work. |

I agree with le sloth, your going to get better riding conditions and variety over in NZ than in Oz as a majority.
So put simply for snow, sheep and Lord of the Rings = NZ everything else Oz. It depends what you want out of it.

hmm, bit of a vague question - really it depends what you're into!
I'm probably a bit biased as I live in NZ, but I think the general feeling is there's a much bigger variety of terrain and better snow in NZ. Well, apart from last season when the Aussies got a great one and we didn't! There's loads of things I could go into but I don't want to start a one-sided aus-nz war on here!
In terms of getting jobs, check out this page for NZSki (Coronet Peak, Remarkables and Mt Hutt). Any of those or Cardrona would be your best bet for getting instructor work as they take on the most staff.

Hi guys wondering i can dip into your fountain of knowledge again. Im off to tahoe in december to do a boarding season and do my level 1 and (hopefully) 2 aasi qualification. The thing is i want to go on from there to either NZ or Oz, but which one?? Can any one recommend the better of the two and does anyone know how i would be able to become an instructor over there. How do you go about applying for paid snowboard instructor jobs??
