Just in case anyone is interested, mbr has got an interesting article on entry level bikes, and which areas to concentrate on when buying.

It also has a fairly decent route around Church Stretton and the Long Mynd... amongst other.

In case anyone's the remotest bit interested:

I'm selling my bike...

Rocky Mountain Switch S1 Freeride bike - info here It's 6 months old and has seen about 30 days of action - I used to work in a bike shop, so it's been very well looked after. 18" frame, which is a medium - I'm 5'10", 170lbs and 32" inside leg.

7" front suspension from Marzocchi Drop-Off Triple Clamps and 6" at the rear - awesome handling bike!! Hand-built frame from Easton RAD tubing, so it's about as tough as a bike can be. It's got dual front chainrings, so you can pedal up hills and I've added an MRP chain-tensioner and bash guard to keep it all in check on the descents.

It's a beautiful bike and I LOVE riding it, but snowy seasons call, so I've gotta let her go.... *sniff*

Looking for £1400 or best offer - will be posting on ebay in near future, but PM if you're interested and I'll get some photos sorted.

hi all, just a pimping thread that for once doesn't involve me trying to sell my chalet!

Got a bike and some disc brakes up for sale if anyone's interested:

2003 Hope Minis fit International Standard mounts front and rear, 185 front & 145 rear rotors (larger front rotor is right size to fit Marzzochi Z1's).

Fully bled, front pads nead replacing.

Price = £80 plus p&p

Trek Fuel 90 - small

Trek Alpha SLR alloy frame with Fox Float rear shock unit. Manitou SXR suspension fork. Bontrager Comp crank. Shimano Deore LX front / Shimano Deore XT rear derailleurs. Shimano Deore LX shifters (27 spd). Avid SD-3 'V' style brakes with Shimano Deore levers. Ultra lightweight & strong Rolf Satellite wheelset.

Hardly used, only been on the trails about 10 times in the last two years so is in excellent condition. The bike is a very nice light cross country full suspension machine, ideal for long day rides or cross country racing.

Price = £500 plus p&p

Will do a deal if you want the bike & brakes together.

We'll be back in the UK from Saturday so don't worry about p&p being a massive cost from France. Pm me or email me for more details/photos.

oh yes - amazing. Read all about it here.

Nant-Y-Arian, as that bloke recommended when we were perched on the trail above ToyTown, was absolute genius.

Great Weekend in Mid Wales - staying here REDITREKS and thanks to Sloth for the organisation, once again superb (top marks), Despite a shorter than usual ride on the saturday, the ride still had enough incidents for it to go down in history as probably the most "technically" or should that be mechanically challenging ride know to man....

Great stuff, how was the ride on sunday?!

You'll be glad to know that my arm is healing up quite nicely, despite the blood staining just about every item of clothing i was planning to wear for the wedding reception, and what a wedding reception - The Cheese platter was incredible, sloth you'd have been in your element (or elemental) i visited it on no less than 3 separate occasions to replenish my plate!!the jazz band rocked and to top it all off there was a fight at the end of the night between the bride and her uncles' bird involving the bridesmaids, mother of bride and just about half of the guests, super!!

Hoping to mount the cheval this weekend for a trip into Dalby again!
