what are the best "Rides" at the moment?....based on all the normal stuff, beg-inter level, all mountain use with a bit of park etc........ taking into account

1) cost
2) value for money
3) ease of use
4) durability

any comments guy's?

Ride and Salomon are both easily available in the Alps. The other advantage is that ski shops can source parts for both as long as they have a Salomon or K2 affiliation.

@tomw_n - If you haven't broken your C60s, you're not riding hard enough.

I have seen loads of problems with all Burton bindings including the Triads and CO2s. Which baseplates do you think last longer?

The more expensive the baseplate, the higher grade EVA used in the moulding, the less likely it is to snap. No problems with my C60s so far.

Anything that can break, will break and usually at the most inconvenient time and in a place where there are few if any snowboard shops. Unless you are prepared to carry lots of spares with you, I would prefer to have something that I am likely to be able to find parts for when I am on the road.

Silver Star is on the money. THE reason I ride Burton.

Although I have not had any particular problems with the various bindings I have owned over the years (Ride, Flow, Burton), I would never buy any binding that is not widely available.

Why?

their ratchets and straps are crap tho IMO plus theyre heavy,

burton triads or C02s ive never seen any problems or had any problems withthem

High end Ride bindings are not heavy. I have not had any issues with straps on my last 5 pairs of Ride bindings. Ratchets can get sticky, but I've never had a problem with it.

Lifetime warranty on the baseplate = new bindings for you.

Also: "new baseplate for you". Broken baseplate = Burton will give you a new baseplate, not a new pair of binders.

Its the high back that broke, not the baseplate!

I managed to break the highback on my Burton Missions the other night, they snapped around where the highback screws to the baseplate. First problem i've had with them in 2 years though.

I had a pair of rides for 5 years. They look knackered but are all in one piece and have not failed. Yes they are a bit on the heavy side compared to some of the newer stuff but I guess that's the trade-off. Dare I mention that kit has to be treated with a bit of respect - check screws and have the strap on the back binding done up before skating or getting on a lift otherwise if you step on the strap in the cold and bend it backwards it's easy to weaken the plastic. If the ratchet is full of ice try to get the ice out rather than heave as hard as you can on it.

1) sounds painful

2) what's a spoiler?

If your baseplate is fcuked then just send em back for some new ones. Lifetime warranty and all that.

Oupss sorry, spoiler is the name we use in France for High Back!!!
Burton used to do sturdy bindings, but 2008 wasn't a good year, one of my mate did the same with her cartel, and she is a girl on top of it

Screws will always loosen on straps where they rotate. Most binding straps are held on by a screw and you're constantly moving them about putting the bindings on and off. I have to tighten my Technine straps every other day.
