Heading out there in March without lift passes as we've heard its cheaper to buy them over there (quoted £190 from Ighams). Anyone been out there recently that can advise on the price? The resort website is quoting 190 euros which is about £165.

Hi mate, I got back from there last week.

I paid 190 euros for 6 days pass, but i got mine from the Inghams rep on the transfer.
I think that is the same price that you would pay at the ticket office, or anywhere else that you got one from for that matter. I'm not sure that anyone is allowed to sell them for more than the official price.

A word of warning, don't get a kebab from the UFO shop opposite the Penken. Myself and one of my mates got food poisoning after eating one. Go to the Gasser, just down the road if you want a decent snack
Wait for me at the bottom.

You know somethings wrong with the world when they have kebab shops in the alpes, that also reflect the quality of home. I'll keep that in mind!

Get a kebab from the nightclub next to Hotel Berghof - they are absolutely awesome

Also - get a snitzel roll from the place in the Main Street with all the cured meats hanging up

Man, i wasn't hungry enough when i went in there. It's a meat lover's paradise.

They also have huge lumps of roast meat that they slice up and stick in a bread roll for you, all you have to do is choose which one you fancy most. Oh, and the Ham Hocks weren't shabby either.

Anyways, sorry I'm going off on one.

You'll have a great time mate, Mayrhofen is a pretty cool place.

Pass i bought for 6 days was 193 euro and that covered all of Mayrhofen, the Hintertux Glacier (which was a bit of a disappointment) and Ziller am Zell (which i never got to).

A day pass which i bought for Saturday mornings huge dump of powder was 43.50 euro

Just got back from Mayrhofen last week leaving behind at fresh dump of about 1.5feet!! Gutted. Want to second or third the hint for the pork world.opposite the penkenbahn and tastes amazing!it's not obvious but they do beers too. Smoked pork and a beer to end the day is top. Also saw them herding 3 huge pigs round the back so you know it's fresh!!

Would disagree with the hintertux comments though.it has to be avoided if the weather is at all off and plan the route carefully as quite a few drags but on a good day it's great.if you are lucky enough to get fresh while you are there try 13a for unbashed runs. Nice extention as you can crack round the ahorn n penken in a few days. D

Was gonna say - if you're squeamish and happen to walk past Gasser when the back door's open, look away

Zell am Ziller is excellent, and I had a really good day on the Hintertux.
