Have a look at the site of the resort you wish to visit & they should be able to give you an idea of the piste depth - & check out snow-forecast or something.

There was a 9ft dump over a couple of days when I was in Tahoe this time 3 years ago, things got cleared real quick they are super organised over there. Sure the high lifts didn't open in the storm but everywhere else was $. Would be nice if they sent some pow to France...

Er, yeah, me.. Didn't I just say that?!..

I'm sure conditions will be fine, no, awesome by the time you get out.. better a really good coverage now so all rocks are covered

as philw says - there's a good dump and then there's too much.. mountain closed for days while they dig everything out, avalanche risk goes sky high so no off-piste for a while, etc..

and have you ever tried getting around without a board on in anything more than a foot or so of snow?.. It's an absolute killer..

Just been watching fox news - They said they'd just had 9 feet of snow .

I'm out in Tahoe next month. My first impression was "Thats Class!", but now it's starting to dawn on me that they are closed the main highway (80?) and loads of other roads as the driving conditions are becoming really bad.

Throw in the fact they said there were 165mph winds, 10,000 people without power and that everywhere is practically a whiteout - I'm now thinking this doesn't make good conditions for snowboarding!

Anybody know of anyone out there at the moment??

I'd be laughing too if I wasn't sat here..

Got friends teaching out there who've been holed up for the duration waiting for it to stop - huge winds and dumping like crazy

It's starting to come down! Can't wait, hoping to hit Sugar Bowl on Monday, and Northstar maybe Wednesday.

Um, it's not uncommon to get 75cm a day in the rockies. Here we've had 40cm for the last couple of days, not sure how much fell today but I'm thinking it may be more than that. It's all good though... you really can have too much of the stuff.

After hearing the rumour, I picked Kirkwood at random on www.snow-forecast.com - and it came back with this. I make that 209cm in total. Just short of SEVEN FEET of snow.
