Iggie,

Niseko area or Rusutsu on Hokkaido for mellow terrain and lots of pow.

Hakuba area on Honshu for more difficult terrain and plenty of pow.

Cheers Mike, I'll have a look at their web site. Any suggestions as to which resort would be the best to go to for a group of Japan first timers?

Slightly different question ... holidays

I was considering suggesting Japan to the guys I normally holiday with so ...

Has anyone been on holiday to Japan? Where did you go? How much did it cost? With hindsight would you have done anything different?

Thanks.

I currently work for Niseko Base Snowsports (my 2nd winter).

If I stay in this area for the 2008/09 season I will not be returning to work with them.

They are one of a number of independent English speaking snowsports schools in the area.

If you're under 30 then I think you can get a 1-year Working Holiday Visa.

If you're over 30 then you have to prove 36 months of instructing experience to get a skilled labour visa. That's not 3 seasons, that's actual months on snow. So about 7 seasons minimum.

Your qualifications are fine.

2nd winter ski instructing in the Niseko area of Hokkaido.

Although spring has sprung about a month earlier than hoped for we've still had 13.8m of snow and I've had 50+ boot top or deeper powder days. Some much deeper

Skied at the following this winter and would return to all of them:

Asahidake
Chisenupuri
Kamui Ski Links
Kiroro Ski World
Kurodake
Niseko United
Rusutsu
Sapporo Kokusai

Hello folks,

Anyone been to Japan this season ?

Would love to hear how you got on. Best bits / worst bits, would you go back, which resort did you go to ?

Cheers for any replies.

Wal.
