Spankies!

I'm pretty sure we've all spanked ourselves in one form or another. It's just a matter of dusting urself off and getting back on the proverbial "horse".

That being said, if you're hurt then take a break to get better and it the pain continues get ur ass down to the Doc's and get urself checked out.

I have only just started out on the boarding and after my 3 lessons finished, I hit the main slope at my local indoor snow fest.

After a couple of runs my confidence was growing and so was my speed. Then from nowhere I made a stupid mistake and for some unknown reason transferred my weight onto my toe edge whilst making a heal edge turn

Instant face plant, which was the minor injury. My body buckled on my left hand side squashing myself to the point my board hit my head. I think I have bruised my kidneys and other gui bits inside, not sure if I have bust a rib also...

That was a week ago, and the serious pain persists. I know its nothing like what some of the more experienced/daring peeps have suffered but to be honest it shook me up and opened my eyes to the dangers. I have had several lung operations so I should partake in something less likely to hurt but hey where is the fun in that?

Just cant wait to feel better so I can get back on the horse, and dispell the demons

Done the course and you realise afterwards how rubbish standard first aid kits are. I think mine quadrupled in volume from a "mountain first aid kit" to one that's useful.

Included face mask (saves inhaling someone elses vomit whilst performing artificial respiration), gloves (in funky purple - not latex as they split in the cold), more bandages including 3 triangular bandages plus much more.
I don't need to shout about what qualifications I have got and haven't got, I know I'm good!

Hey man I recomend everyone to do a first aid course. I have done 2 courses, and I also work for the NHS and have been in emergency situations quite a few times. As yet I have not had to use any first aid skills outside a hospital enviroment. The thing is for the sake of taking a few hours out of your time you could make such a difference to somones life! Even someone who has a broken leg could potentally die as a result of shock. Also there have been numerous cases of people trying to help in situation but end up making it far worse as they dont know what they are doing. So it is well worth learning bacic first aid skills.

that sounds great, thanks!! will check them out! have many of you done the course? hands up! does it actually help in real life experiences? how many of you have had to actually use your first aid in practice?wanna be more prepared so that if anything else happens i know what to do! though i'll probably still resort to stuffing my wound with my buff and covering it with tiny little bandages

Hey Wilde, would that course meet the requirements for teaching on Artificial slopes?
