| Think you're right, you should be able to get more energy out of a board with a stiffer longitudinal flex (nose to tail), but I guess for someone trying ollying for the first time would find it quite difficult to generate the energy and get the technique right at the same time. |

More flex is definitely better for pressing and buttering, but is that right for ollies? I think it’s easier to learn to ollie on a more flexible board, but once you have the technique, isn’t it better on a stiffer board?
I ride a stiffer board nowadays than I used to, but I reckon I can get more powerful ollies out of it than on previous boards. I can’t get great height on a nollie, but my nollies have always been pretty lame and I think I’d be better off working on these on a more flexy board.
Does this sound right or is more flex always better for ollies? |

Stepchild..cool.
I've got a Stepchild Mike Ranquet powder board. It's kind of a Fish type design, but I've never got on with Burton boards, but didn't want to anything too long.
My Rome Anthem 03/04 turned in to a total noodle after 40 weeks riding on it, and was the most awesome jib board I ever had. Sadly it died shortly afterwards.. |

I was previously alternating between an ancient k2 dart (stiff as granite) and a floppy in the middle and stiff at the ends heli as well as borrowing a gnu CHB
now I have a stepchild corporate which is a step up in every direction |

Alf,
Out of a matter of interest what did you ride? (stiff board) and what are you currently riding?
I think a soft board is all about the butter, tail press 1's & 3's follow immediately by ground 1's & 3's look sweet! |

Do people still say pukka?|! Maybe he's been seasoning so long he's forgot to keep track of what's going on at home! :o
How about nollie variations? I think those look pretty pukka, as it happens!

last year I picked up a far less stiff board than before and have been enjoying using the flex in different ways...
My ollies have got more ollie-ish than the old hucks I was doing before due to flexing and popping the tail more effectively
Tail presses and butters are begining to look "pukka" according to a seasonaire buddy (not jamie oliver)
What else? how else can I bend my board for impressive effect? |
