If you wanted to order anything overseas over the price of about £18, you could have been stung for import tax – a hefty fine, proportional to the item’s cost, that you have to pay to the post office for lugging your tiny little Wario Ware Twisted box off a plane and onto British Soil, god dammit!
Always a bone of contention and a royal pain in the a*se for any European importer (which is a must if you like videogames, and more importantly, Nintendo videogames), a new EU law will be bought in on December 1st, 2008 that raises the ridiculous cap from a meager €22 to a massive €150.
With a little currency conversion magic, that comes out at £118. While you won’t be able to sneak Rock Band or a Playstation 3 in unnoticed, come December a whole host of Japanese and American treats will be at your fingertips. |
