For a true beginner that may not be too athletically inclined the Control/Fleetwood is a good choice as it's more forgiving. For people who tend to progress quicker the Hatchet is the better choice. It's six in one, half dozen in the other depending on my mood.

QUOTE (Grill - 08/08/2008 @ 10:44:35)

I was thinking the same thing. I concussed myself the first time I tried out a Timeless (old school). Can't imagine what a complete beginner would have done.

1. Ride Control/Fleetwood
2. Atomic Hatchet

now you have got me confused grill

on the other thread you wrote:-
If you're planning to stick with boarding, I'd buy a better board than the Control and the Bullet. Both have extruded bases, which are for all intensive purposes balls-slow. Try and find something that's good all-round but still a decent spec.

but now have it as your first choice? im lost

I got an Agent after one week, it's a piece of p*ss to ride and I'm not going to need to upgrade for a while.
It's not like it's a super stiff T6 or somthing.

I'm a bit surprised anyone suggested a skate banana too. Having seen people ride them on hard pack cat tracks they're not the most stable looking of boards for putting flat.

Knew this was going to happen...Anthems, Agents and Skate Banana for a beginner/low intermediate? Come on be serious chaps. The boards I mentioned I have never ridden but they get great feedback from people riding them and shop owners/workers. I certainly would not list the boards I own as they aren't suitable for a beginner/low intermediate - maybe the Stairmaster in a decent size, but they're not built to last.

only ridden a few, but my current ones are excellent.

Rome Anthem (158) - bought in for my 4th week. scared me no end as it was so different to what i was used to, but is super-stable at speed

Atomic Hatchet (153) - made the Anthem take back seat on pieste days. So much fun, disproportionately stable at speed to what you expect it to be. Gets the wobbles a bit at real speeds, but it flexi and my fave out of the two

Would both be good for progressors, for different reasons.

1) Rome Agent

2) Lib-tech Skate banana

I own a Rome and loved riding the banana last season( sounds very carry on )

i think that it goes without saying that peeps who have only had experience of 1 or 2 boards can only comment on those boards, however those hwo have been around for donkey's will have greater knowledge......either way it will give people a much better idea of "what board" and the "why's" so lets keep it up peeps

don't mean to be critical but i can see this thread turning into a reccomendation of dozens of boards and mainly ones that are owned by the people recomending them!
Still heres my thoughts anyway!
1 - Rome Solution - Same reasons as Fatbon, not owned one but generally regarded as perfect intermidiatte/improver board and good value.
2 - Atomic Hatchet - Amazing Value, great all mountain for begginer/intermediatte and great for park once you get a little better. I do own one and it has lasted me 5 seasons (about 10-15 weeks riding) and is still going strong.

1.Nitro Misfit

2. Nitro eero ettala.

i say the misfit first because its similar to the eero which is better imo but a bit more forgiving to start out with if they wanted a board to get good on fast though id say eero ettala first.anything from 155 -157 aswell for both

Still pretty novice my self but here's my choices

1. Ride society 160 - It's a bit long i know but it's the first and only board I've got and it's brilliant stable at speed but till got loads of pop for the park. Plus the 09 graphics are incredible.

2. Lib Tech skate banana 156 - Banana's are going to rule the world.

The 160's probably a bit long for someone 5'10" but the 170 ride society would be perfect.

Never ridden either, but heard great things about them...

1. Option Redline - bullet proof bases so will last for ages!
2. Rome Solution - better than a Burton Custom.

Both intermediate boards. Beginner boards are crap as you can out grow them in 1-2 weeks.
