| think you can get a bar job in a hotel in canada through work placement organisers like Oyster Worldwide and BUNAC. They arrange your work visa and fix you up with a job before you go. They reckon you can earn C$9 an hour (£4.50 approx) + tips and get free accommodation. Sounds too good to be true?? |

Don't know about Europe - but trying to get a bar job in Canada is very difficult as barman are worshipped there, and they get good tips - so are basically the top dogs.
TRUE FACT: they have bar tending courses in Canada.
As for other ski jobs - in Whislter - in a ski shop they paid around £5/hour - that was a few years ago though. But you did get a free lift pass, cheap accomodation (which was like gold dust in Whislter) and discounts on food in mountain resturants. |

| yeah. I had the same trouble . Is a nightmare trying to get through to companies by phone to ask as well. Just applied for a few 2008/9 jobs in Meribel through www.ski-jobs.co.uk and have been able to get more info once I have applied online and got an email back - is easier to get info then. Seems to be they think they wont get so many applications if they put us off by including the salary! Have noticed that some independent chalets on the site do quote salary rates though... think they pay better than big companies??? |

i worked for cristal holidays over the malenium 99/2000 season in les deux alps as an EPH ( extra pare of hands ) which was one of the best six months i have had boarding in my life but you dont get payed to much i got £50 per week but you got food drink accomadation and lift pass as well, which is better than some other companies from what i found out plus being out there all season you get to no other seasonaires who work in clubs and pubs so drinks become extreamly cheep or free plus we also got free admission to the main night club in the resort so things start to look a bit more peachy eh i can highly recomend this job BUT.....
WORKING HOURS....
The only down fall is that we only got 1 day off per week , we normaly worked in the morning till 10 11 then you could ride till about 4 work till 8 9 serving tee, then party on and on.....
(That is as a EPH for christal holidays it could be different doing diferent jobs for different companies eh)
good luck dude if you do end up getting out there you will love it spite the amount money you get i got loads of ridding time but not much money. if you wanted the money be a rep and sell excurssions and bar crauls but you will have more stress and less time on the mountain eh i recon you would have less time up the hill doing bar stuff cause of the hour you would have to do but money should be hella better...........the choice is yours hehe |

Hi, If your looking for information on ski jobs check out www.alprecruit.co.uk, they give good advice and helped me find a chef job last year. I know bar jobs are hard to come by, but if you apply to some of the bigger companys you might be able to get a job with accomodation and a lift pass.

dunno about bar jobs, but working for NZSki over here (who own the mountains, cafes, snowsports etc.) gets you around 12NZD an hour. That's only a bit over £4 so not a lot at all. What you do get though is a season pass, free transport, discounts on booze/equipment/stuff, free lessons. And it's quite a lot cheaper living here so all balances out. As long as you get the hours in, it's enough to pay your way for the season...just. |

| for bar work, or other such jobs where you're not getting accommodation/lift passes paid for, you're looking at about 10euros an hour tops, but these jobs are usually pretty hard to come by... |

Historically, not very well - they will usually cover your living costs with a bit of spends on the side - you won't be the next alan sugar, put it that way! But you get to work in the mountains doing a job you love - sport you love. |
