That panasonic one holds 27hrs of Video Bob. Each mini DV tape holds about an hour at best. So 27 tapes is a bit much

Are you planning to take a laptop and external HDD away with you? Cos if you're not I'd imagine that a HDD camera would get full very quick. At least with a Mini DV you can just keep buying more tapes, which in the grand scheme of things are pretty cheap. Just something else to think about.

Just had a look mate, and tbh it's not worth that now, they're selling the model up the HC27E for £139.99, so not much point me parting with it really, and I know I'll only regret it if I sell it, then spend a fuck load on an HDD one myself

i use i movie hd

its better than windows movie

i can use it for my mini dv but i have to get the right wire etc but then i still have to stream it
its quite and old mini dv now like 4 -5 years so was looking at better quality

Have you tried using Windows Movie Maker mate? I find my vid streams off onto there just fine with my Sony DCR-HC22E Mini DV cam.

U do realise that the title of your thread has "or" in it. Suggesting that you wish to discuss the merits of both formats.

But then u just right off Mini DV it the first line. Shouldn't the title be more like :-

"Best place to find cheap HDD cams?"

or

"Best cheap HDD cam on the market?"

hey guys well i have a mini dv but to be honest for porting to comp and editing i find it to be a pain in the a*se.

im looking at perhaps a new cam for the season aheadi n banff .

looking to spend no more than 200 i realise this puts most hdd cams out the question cept for a few on ebay .

can anyone reccomend any ?

and better to buy in canada or uk ?
