Hi,

I wouldn't bother with the levels, aren't they about £70? the Dakine (which has top and bottom protection, to reduce hyperextension) or even the ones you have would be more than sufficient.

Picked up a pair of the Snowlife ones in TK Maxx in Notts today, £29.99- a couple of pairs left too. The protection is on the outside of the wrist preventing hyperextention.

14 days now to decide whether to keep them or shell out and invest in the Levels

Hi,

No, not Goretex, but to be honest it's pretty good and most of the gloves I buy don't have Goretex, which is just a technology, they use something different. For £40 you can't go wrong.

They use Weathershield Fabric which is waterresistant, and breathable materials, with a Waterproof Neoprene which feels hard wearing too.

Do the Dakine's have Gore Tex?

Just found that Blue Tomato are now trading on Amazon.co.uk. They have the half pipe in stock so will be going for those unless Derby TK Maxx have those Snowlife jobbies in stock

Hi,

Having looked at the Bio and Flexmeter designs and the Burton and Dainese, I chose the Dakine ones.

They fit really well, seem to have the right level of protection and more importantly cost me £40, which is about £30 less than the others, but for the same features. I tend to purchase a fair amount of Dakine stuff as it's really well built.

So check out the Dakine, they have wrist protection on the bottom and top, what a bargain!

QUOTE (sharpee - 17/11/2008 @ 19:13:11)

I've just bought some Level gloves with the built in biotherm protection from Chain Reaction Cycles online.

I too was struggling to find the make and size so googled and checked out loads of sites to find them though

They've only got small left I was looking at them the other week and they had everything in stock! Damn you, you stole my Half Pipes!

Well for £20 (as Ive now seen them for) I would go with the Snowlife ones. That's if you can find them in The Maxx. Bit of a lottery.

There aren't many wrist protection gloves with Gore-Tex. I think theres 3 - the two you mentioned and mine.

if you can't find your size i'd get in touch with the distributer and ask them, they were quite helpful when i was looking for some replacement parts

are the dainese gloves warm? I want in-built wrist protection, but warmth is a bag factor for me too because my extremities get cold very easily. They also need to be able to last the season.

I'm after some Level Half Pipes but can't find anywhere in the UK with Medium in stock

What are my other options, need to have Gore-Tex, the Burton Support Gore doesn't get the greatest of reviews

Well I solved it - but didn't buy any of the ones Id listed.

Tried on the Burton Impact gloves on Saturday, but they were v. uncomfortable on my extra-boney wrists, and for £65 Id want them perfect.

Went into TK Maxx today and found some SnowLife ones. Hadnt heard of them before, but had decent removable guards, removable inner glove, Gore-Tex etc.. and are really comfortable. £25 too (rrp £65)!! Very similar in construction and materials to my girlfrinds Level ones.

Had a browse around online and at snowlife.ch and they seem to be a Swiss brand specialising mostly in ski stuff but have a range of boarding gloves. They even have heated ones with controls on the back of the glove.

Here is the snowboarding page of the pdf brochure for anyone interested:

Protection should be down to the individual unless under the age of 16, where I believe helmets should be compulsory. Wrist guards are a love them and hate them thing. Personally I don't get on with them, but I can see the benefits of them.

The main thing for me though is the teaching of the correct way to fall. Using your forearm to take the brunt falling forward and falling to the side using one of your in built in air bags when falling backwards.
