Bit late on the uptake but better late than never - congratulations Starnzy. I can only imagine the hours of your personal time you put in to keep the site up and running. You now get to work on GB full time and have a personal life. Here's to the future (raises a glass of wine) and even better things.

this is excellent news! nice one Starnzy

Now all we need is someone to start up goneboarding.co.nz. Our forums over here in New Zealand are shocking!

Likewise, I'm knocking back a glass of Claymore whiskey.

It's a whiskey so cheap even my Dad has never heard of it, and he drinks Bells.

i will add my congrats, hope it all turns out well and that the site continues to stride forward

i must say that when i first read the post i had mixed emotions. I hope its not the end of the community feel of the site and only the start of something bigger? better?

here's to the future - i don't actually have a glass in my hand right now but feel that the moment deserves one so I'm off to the fridge for a hoegarden

I didn't donate because I only discovered the site a few weeks ago, but if it's any consolation I'm sure the donations you all made are greatly appreciated by the many thousands of us who use the site. Thanks guys!

This is brilliant for the future of Goneboarding.
A couple of years ago if it was not for the donations then this site as we know it would probably not exist.
Its future is now safe and its great that Marc will be spending more time working on it and ensuring "this community" goes from strength to strength.

I really hope that they did pay him money for it! Otherwise Marcus would have missed a trick!

The site would actually be worth a pretty pennies. I'd be more pissed if he gave it away for free!

QUOTE (fatbob - 17/07/2008 @ 15:39:28)

I personally feel this is a great step for GB and maybe we can see an addition of a snowsports news section to add to the great community of the site??

Cheers FB. A News section is something that has been discussed yes

M@tt - I understand your point - but I don't think your analogy is entirely accurate here.

If you'd been staying over at you mate's house whilst working on it - ie getting something in return for your graft (like getting to use GB for your money) - then it would be more understandable - but you were getting beneifit out of GB for your donation - the beneifit of using the site.

How do we know it has been sold? It's been acquired and this may be in the form of mutual benefit - Friday holdings (Marcus's employer since '99) pick up a site which would be a great addition to their portfolio and Marcus gets full time employment for a site he created. Win, win.

I personally feel this is a great step for GB and maybe we can see an addition of a snowsports news section to add to the great community of the site??
