It depends on the weather and you expectations really! I was expecting a short crowded ice rink of a slope, but in reality, the main slope is pretty long and wide, the park is massive and has a good variety of stuff (although it was all a little too big for my gf but I enjoyed some of the 3 hit kicker lines and the pipes)
When we arrived the place was just like any resort in winter with what felt like a decent amount of fresh. Once the sun came out for the rest of the week you could see it melting away pretty quickly and so some of the other runs to the sides of the main slope may no longer be open (not sure how it works really, they must do something as its open all summer!)
If you go expecting a full on snowboarding holiday just like your winter one then you will probably be dissapointed, if you go expecting a kind of outdoor snowdome on steroids then you should love it! We rode it every morning and didn't get bored - could have esily stayed for another week but then I was biking in the afternoons I guess.
Although the lift queues are full of typical French people pushing in left right and center and trashing your board |

Thanks Phil, we were planning on getting as much boarding in as possible, we had planned to get a 5 or 6 day lift pass.
Will there be enough white stuff to ride for 6 days or would I be wasting money? |

Most days I just wore a hoodie (with nothing underneath) and my normal boarding pants with vents open and no base layers. When it is sunny we found it was hitting 5 or 6 degress up there and felt even hotter in the summer sun! Even wearing just this I was absolutely baking, but then I always am even in winter.
When it was snowing and windy I wore my normal winter kit.
Remember suncream, both types of goggle lenses if you have them (whiteout and sunny day), and also if you buy a 2 or more day lift pas you get some freebies like free swimming pool entry, 3 free toboggan runs (a must!) and tennis or something...
Be prepared to eat lots of burgers and pizzas too as thats all you can get up there!
We took the bikes as i'm into my DH biking and it was amazing boarding all morning, having some lunch then heading out and doing lift served dh biking all afternoon. |

Hi guys,
I'm off there in a couple of weeks with the Mrs, What should I take to wear on the slopes? I've packed all my winter gear, proper coats and thermals but will it be too warm for jackets and that?
Thanks guys

I was in Les Deux-Alps last week and it was the ideally holiday. You get roughly 4 hours of boarding in the morning, then have a nice long lunch followed by a afternoon of fun in the sun, either swimming at the pool (which is free with your lift pass), summer toboganning (you usually get a few free frees with your lift pass) or doing one of the many other activities on offer - Golf, mountaining biking, drinking etc. It was even warm enough some evening to sit outside and eat dinner.
I fully agree with the review in the last post on the snow conditions and lack of lift queues. It is icy first thing but the slopes are kept in great condition and not that steep so are very manageable even for a beginner like myself.
I drove there which took about 12 hours from Calais, with stopping for food and petrol and traffic, rather than the 8.5 hours that the route planner claimed. So I would recommend if you are taking that approach to travel to do the drive over two days but it does mean less time boarding. |

I did l2a glacier a week or two ago, I really enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone. We stayed in a hotel almost next to the gondola that goes up to the glacier and it probably took 25 mins to get to the top. It didn't fell especially long, and wasn't a big negative.
We never had any queues to get up on the lift at all, there was a small queue for downloading at the end though.
If its been hot and sunny then i'd recommend getting a lie in and heading up after 9.30. The lift ticket is cheaper then and you can still use it for biking. Before 9.30 the slope will be pretty icy and not too much fun anyway, after this time it starts to get slushy which is like a poor mans powder and great fun |

| went to saas fee last week, and very mixed feelings tbh. The conditions wear awesome, snow was nice and fresh, blue skies, cold beer, amazing park but...& this really hacked me off. Got there and the bottom of the first run down you're greeted with 2 t-bars. One is for slalom french kids, the other is for park rats. As an uninitiated saas fee summer rider i foolishly thought it would be ok to join the nearest (slalom) queue. Wrong. after being elbowed, my board walked over and stared and sworn at for about 10 mins (the queues suck) i actually started to hate the little blighters....ahh i thought, next time into the freestyle queue...only to be greeted with angry park rats jeering at the kids in lycra and lots of calling them 'gay'. idiots. Now if you're into all this 'us & them' cr@p then you'll probably love it...if you want to ride, or get more than 3 runs in you'll hate it. With Zermatt virtually next door then, with the exception of Popcorn, i'm not sure what draws riders here...bottom line....next year saas fee in winter, zermatt in summer. |

We're planning a bit of boarding in Tignes early August.
Drop Karen an email tignes@oopalley.co.uk and she might be able to hook you up with some summer accommodation.

From house to top of the glacier, including queues and walk, it is indeed 45 minutes to 1 hour in winter!!!
Have a look at saas fee, quite good in July apparently |
