big boned?

good luck with the board, have you got boots as they are probably more important when you are starting than board

16 stone .. yes yes, pies and pints!

i spoke to the owner of true and he recons a 158-160 due to 'body mass index' .. they have such polite ways of saying 'tubby!'

good guys!

how much do you weigh if you don't mind me asking as you are only a couple of inches taller than me and i'm riding a 153 though not a true board, weight has more to do with the length of board than height does...

go see if you can get s4xoslut's attention she works for true and might be able to give you some advice

Here is the link:
http://www.truesnowboards.com/about.asp?curr=GBP&wh=1&lang=1

I have had mine for 1 year now and had a Burton Canyon before as I am 6ft 2" tall and just over 100KG. The Canyon I found unforgiving and a very harsh ride (didn't know it at the time as I had nothing to compare it to!). My freedom 163cm in comparison is so forgiving and has given me the confidence to take on off piste and jumps and tricks.
I know True have a new range of boards now but for £150 (they will usually give a discount if you ask, but don't tell them that I told you that!) delivered I really think you cannot go far wrong. i even saw a Freedom 160cm sell on Ebay for £90 so if you didn't like it and sold it you would get some money back!
Highly highly recommended from me (intermediate, progressing quickly!)

Hi All,

I am looking at getting a board - a fresh new boarder

thought i had found the perfect one then i found this post talking about the 'True Freedom'... Im 5ft 8 and was ideally looking for a 158/160cm as only just starting out..

i have looked at the site and they appear to only have 156 in stock all the rest are wide (i only have size 7/8 feet - its not true what they say! actually who am i kidding, yes it is!)

Would this be a good choice for me? - i will be abroad maybe twice a year, the rest of the time will be at milton keynes..

thanks in advance!!

True Snowsports Shop
I have a true board, and love it (passion as I'm a girlie)
All I need is a ball and a wall, or a sledge board and a hill in heavy weather!

Hi Woody,

I have just finished with my setup, couldnt possibly comment on your board as
a) I dont know to much
b) I am only 5'8 and 11 stone.

But the way I looked at it is what do you intend to do? I will spend 90% of my time indoors at the CFE, so I went for a freestyle board so I had something to progress into. If your off to rip powder most of the time then that would be a different type of requirement.

Some advice I got not so long ago was to buy boots first as they are probably the most important thing for personal use...

With regards to the sales, I found that you will not get it much cheaper than what it is now, also stock is very low, so I would buy it now or wait for next season.

Hope I have been of some help

I was in the same position as you last year (although more intermediate). You can't go wrong with the true freedom and it is British. Brilliant board and only £175 delivered.

Hello, i have just started snowboarding. I have had lessons and now im ready to go it alone. Im after some advice, i have quite a few questions and im in a bit of a pickle!
So here goes...

What sort of snowboard should i buy? Im 6ft2 and weigh 230lbs and have size 11 feet. I have been looking at a k2 anagram board 163cm.

http://www.s2as.com/p/p-K2_Anagram___Ride_LX___Dakine_Tour_Bag_Snowboard_Package-1159.aspx

Would this lengh of board suit my weight and size? Is this a good begginer board? I have been advised to buy a board inbetween 163cm and 168cm. Would i need a wider board because i have size 11 feet? What board would you reccomend for a begginer?
I dont really want to pay more than £250 for a first board. Is it worth holding out for the sales to get a cheaper one? Are the bindings included in this package any good?

Phew! there you go, hope that someone can answer some, if not all of these questions i have!
