I think I've mentioned this somewhere before but here goes again (it was a while ago).
My girlfriend broke her wrist wearing Dakine's also. She was not going fast...in fact, embarassingly for her, she was standing on her board listening to her instructor and just fell. She now hes Flexmaster thingies as they were recommended by a doctor in the resort.
Not sure whether it's nonsense or not but it does seem that the only reason to spend 20 euros on Dakines would be to boost your confidence (i.e. think your wrist won't break so ride harder) and maybe reduce bruising/pain after many days of learning and gently falling on your wrists. If you want more security pay more, get some Flexmasters and make sure you have compatable gloves as they are huge but overall nothing will offer you a 100% guarantee.

| Wrist guards are only good for low speed falls , if you have a high speed wipe out , and are wearing wrist guards , all you do is move thge energy up your arm futher and break your arm , a wrist heals alot qwicker ......better to learn to roll and keep board up if / when you fall ........... |

| I had a flexmaster. Yes they work, but they are a bitch to get under gloves, if indeed you manage it at all. Moved onto some 'Red' ones, they were a lower profile, but decided they were just as anoying after an hour. Decided to sell em both.. far too clumsy and annoying... |

| also try level gloves with built in biomex protection, they are usually mentioned in the same phrase as flexmeter as being good |

Too bad!
A couple of different manufacturers make full length guards. They are a lot bulkier and less comfortable but do provide better protection.

...don't work!!!
I crashed out on some ice wearing some Da Kine wrist guards and broke my wrist. The metal bar in the guard just bent.
Does anyone know of any better guards for next time? |
