.....................something I forgot to add yesterday (relates to previous entry regarding Bozel and skicourchevel) is that it is possible to get back into the village snow conditions permitting, though this is an off piste route through the trees!!!!!!!!!!!!

The last time this year was 25th March!!!just after the big dump at Easter......its not too difficult and well used by pisteurs and Instructors returning home as well!

Hey Jo

Just read your message regarding Courchevel.

We live here full time..............well someone has to do it!!

I noted that you are looking for a chalet for 7/8 people and looking for value for money, we we have a catered chalet in Bozel, Courchevel at 1000ml which although does not have its own lift it is linked to Courchevel by a regular bus service. Our dearest week is £325 per person!!!!!!

Please do not be put off by not being able to ski in/out , we offer excellent home cooked food, good wine, all at a value for money no frills price!! PLUS we have an arrive any day depart any day policy, in fact last season most of our guests made full use of the cheaper Tuesday flights and we also had several 4 day weekenders.

It must be a good village as its where all the instructors live!

We spent last year renovating our chalet to the highest standards, and all rooms have en suite bathrooms, and are not to the usual French sizes for midgets!!

We have skied in Courchevel and the Three Valleys for 15years now and have had our apartment in 1550 for 8 years, my youngest both boards and was a ski racer, so we have a great bank of knowledge of the sport and the area. Because we live here I also have negotiated some good deals on hire and private lessons......I can even advise on where to eat and drink cheaply on the mountain.

Whilst the night life is not "banging" here, we have 5 bars, 4 restaurants, 3 of which are pizzarias, plus 2 snack bars, and a Casino and nightclub in Brides is 10 minutes away!

Take a look at our website and please feel free to contact us at any time for further help and advise. ......www.skicourchevel.net

1650 is petty cool, good all round boarding for beginers ad the more experienced, endless winter is a good board store, check out rockies bar and the bubble bar, decent ish prices and the best panini in the 3 valleys.

as long as there is snow you will have a great time, if there's no snow there then we are fooked

1650 was the place that we headed from La Tania to most days on our stay this year. It's pretty quiet by day as those that stay there head right across the Three Valleys Map but we found an awesome place for a cheap(er) lunch than 1850 and a few beers.

As for staying there and nightlife I am not sure but the Three Valleys were great and I would recommend. If you've still not found a place and committed to 1650 then I would recommend la Tania as that is cheap and more central on the 3 Valleys but you'll be fine at 1650.

Great access to best areas of Courch from 1650 imo and a selection of bars, Spar and board store. Its not posh really at all but alot of Q7's and Russians in1850.
You can also get bus round to 1850 on a morning and go from there.. Merihell,Val T,La Tania.
Just hope for plenty of white stuff and an improving exchange rate ..

Cheers fellas,

I've had a quick look round on the net and found a deal in a catered chalet for £450 per person. Seem pretty pleased with that so will go ahead. Whats the place actually like? Is it a bit stuck up? I'm going to be staying in 1650...

I'll third them, stayed with them 4 times now. They've got a variety of chalets that you can check out.

Have you thought about dropping Pleisure a line? Or did you just want the chalet?

Courchevel is a nice place in a good snow year. I don't know what the snow's going to be like next season so I can't say if it will be good then. I'd wait and see. Obviously you can access a huge amount of terrain from there, but if you're a beginner then it's kind of big and perhaps rather more than you really need.

I don't find 1850 pretentious; it may have the odd Michelin restaurant, but it's just another purpose built French place. I usually go on the bus. The lower places are cheaper; pay your money and take your pick. If you're going for a catered chalet then you're not going to be sampling the restaurants (of which there are many more in 1850...) anyway, so that's largely irrelevant. The only issue is that the lower stations are lower... and the runs down may not always be snow-sure or within your capabilities.

More important may be the location of your chalet in relation to the rest of the place.

Hi Everyone,
Started boarding last winter and really enjoying it, after a great week in Livigno with the missus I've decided to arrange a board/ski holiday for me and a few friends.

Courchevel has been recommended as it has lots of wide blue motorways which would be ideal for me to progress on, I'm looking at 1650 as I don't like the sound of 1850's glitz and pretentiousness, nor I hasten to add, the price.

How much should I be paying per person for a week starting 3/1/09 in Courchevel 1650? I'd like a smaller chalet as there are 7/8 of us....I'm getting prices of around £600 but know that I can get it cheaper by booking later on in the year...

Any advice, and recommendations would be appreciated.

Thankyou!

Joe.
