Loved SSX3, didn't enjoy the follow up so much though.
I would love to see either a new SSX on the Wii or a Skate-style snow game on the Wii using the new balance board that comes out next year.

I love the SSX series, but any diehard SSX fan will agree that On Tour is by far the worst in the series.
SSX 3 was great. SSX Blur for the Wii's controls are incredibly fun (though a bit difficult at first for uber tricks), although the replay value isn't as high as SSX 3's.

1080 is probably the best ever... I just got SSX Blur, and I don't know what to think. I can't bloody control the character.
Coolboarders... meh, not so much. Not bad though.

Skate is fucking insane, i only have the demo but i played it repeatedly until my xbox 360 broke for the 4 th time  a snowboard game with that engine would be the unltimate pwnage, also a surfing game  |

SSX On Tour wipes everything else. Great controls, captures the tensed up feeling of going into a hit perfectly, and undoable tricks. I like fantasy stuff in video games...doing stuff you can't do in real life is cool.
That said, 1080 close second, good god it was hard though... |

| Stooza given what you have said I suspect that Amped 2 is probably the closest to what you would be looking for and probably the best I have played. Amped 3 went a bit more arcadey so lost a bit in my opinion. |

| They need to build a snowboard game based around the engine for 'Skate'. Now that would kick ass. I've never really enjoyed any snowboard games if I'm honest, but I must admit I haven't played much Amped. |

1080 was genious but you cant compare it to the new games as it was more of a racer.
Amped 1 and 2 were superb, very realistic, i just wish you couldnt launch so high as you could pull some ridiculous stuff off the tiniest kickers. Amped 3 was awesome, the story line was stupid as fuck but enjoyable. the physics were great and the sheer size of the maps were mind blowing, just hop on the ski mobile and scout out some cliff drops off piste and shit. genious stuff. too bad there was no online tho |

Amped 2 was the best snowboarding game I reckon... it had the best mix of realism, good physics and fun levels. Nice character design too. The control system was very fluid too, in fact probably the best I've used for a snowboard game.
Amped 3 is ok but the surf bum esq characters and cheesier than cheese "awesome duuuuuude" story line get on my nerves. They also totally butchered the control system, although its ok once you get used to it. The graphics arent really an improvement considering it's on the 360 either... but I got it for a fiver so cant complain too much!
1080 would get my 2nd vote. Really nice graphics and physics for the time although the N64 controller was the best with it's daft little stick.
Coolboarders 1 and 2 were good at the time but dated very quicky.
MTV Snowboarding sucked as the controls were horrible and it was an obviously cash-in a new "trend".
Coolboarders 3 was playable but again had fidly controls and didnt really have the same appeal as the 1st two.
SSX doesnt even get a look in as it's too over the top, lame characters and annoying controls.
Cant think of any others but I'm sure there's been more over the years.
Shaun White has a game coming out later this year I hear. Ubisoft France are doing it apparently. |
