keep the gig bag. Pack only kit into your snowboard bag and everything else into a suitcase. If your not taking a suitcase take a small hiking rucksack as your hand luggage (you can take as much weight as you want as long as you can put it in the lockers.) easy. Did this with ryanair when i only had sports luggage booked.
If you really can't be bothered carrying a snowboard bag, put it on top of the roller bag and roll the two together. Your girlfriend might object to taking both tho, so you'll probably have to take both. |

Yeah normally would. The company we are working for booked it. Didn't get any choice in it. |

We are booked up to travel with easyjet this Dec. Going for the season so thought we'd better get the extra allowance for sports equip. Paid £33 1 way for 2 board bags with a 12kg allowance each. Jeez!
Anyway the missus is ok, she has a nice low roller and being a girl it matches her back pack I however, dont have a roller bag/coffin/carrier, but a burton gig bag. I want a roller after getting some serious dead shoulder and purple bruising fromt he strap last year. Problem being, with only 12kg and the average coffin weighing about 3-5kg whats guna be the best option. Do any of the companies do a lighter option roller bag that still fits a mountain of gear?
Oh, there is no way I can afford £170 for a board bag either, trying to save for a new board! |

Yep, I have one of those. You can get shedloads in there. And amuse youself knocking people flying as you walk through the airport. Bit tricky negotiating the cordoned-off check-in lines though... And you need to watch the weight. You can cruise through 32kg easier than you'd think.

As mentioned in the baggage thread, it's much better to buy a seperate wheelie case and board bag, instead of a coffin.
Isn't the burton locker around £170?
You could get the matching Dakine 120L split roller and a 166cm low roller for £10 less, and it means if your baggage is lost/delayed, you're not totally fooked.
You can also use the suitcase for 'normal' holidays or travelling. |

I have a Dakine Hi-Roller 180, which is great, and huge so sounds like it might fit the bill for you... I don't actually use it for much else beyond storage, so if the husband agrees may be willing to part with it.
PM me if you are interested in buying second hand. |

I thought airlines only covered for say board/bindings and boots or skis and boots not for clothing as well?
Also I have noticed a lot of airlines don't charge for snow stuff providing its only the above. |
