Hey, I am heading to Big White in Jan- March. It'sski in ski out. There are a few guys getting gear here at those shows going on, metro and what not as they are meant to have good deals.

I am in Vancouver for a few days before hand so gonna wait till then or maybe get stuff in Kelowna (Near Big White). Not sure yet though

Carpenters are in such short supply all over B.C. that if you have qualifications in this area you should have no trouble getting a work permit!

I meant getting work WITHOUT a permit obviously..
I board, therefore I am..

and IME experience employers are reluctant to do it as they get fined as well... though I have heard of guys getting jobs as carpenters in Whistler which you would think would be crawling with Gov' inspectors on the look out for illegit' workers..

You could try and find 'under the table' jobs but it's not advisable as if you get caught you will be thrown out of the country!

IMO you'd be better off planning now for the 09-10 season.

Damn... you're leaving some of the key things pretty late to sort out.

You WILL need a work permit to work any length of time over here. You could try and find 'under the table' jobs but it's not advisable as if you get caught you will be thrown out of the country!

I'm going to Fernie in January and have paid a deposit on a new snowboard at one of the shops in the resort. I'm saving about £90 (give or take a few pence with the exchange rate and stuff) in total so it is worth it in my opinion.

Can't help on anything else you've asked though!

Hey everyone,

We are looking to go to Canada for a season, no idea where to go or where to stay!

What do people recommend? Ideally looking for somewhere cheap that allows you to board to the door! not sure how realistic this is but...

Looking to be there 3 months, havnt applied for a visa to work, does anyone know if you need a visa if you want to work for a max of 3 months? (We are from New Zealand) can you do cash jobs over there?

Currently in the UK and wondering if its worth getting a board in the UK or when we get to Canada... anyone have first hand experience in sorted a board out in Canada and if its much cheaper than getting it in the UK.

Wasnt sure where i should submit this, but figured the resorts would be a good place to start!

Looking forward to the feedback!
