QUOTE (Satch - 07/05/2008 @ 02:09:45)

Do you guys not like the gear then? Is it realy that bad?

Not at all, i'll admit i have a preference for normal bindings over flows but hey you may like them. Azzie was just saying that it would be better if you could try on the boots, test out the boards and see if you like flows compared to the more regular style bindings.

But especially the boots. If you can't try the rest then at least try on the boots before you purchase them.

O man timbor, i wish u had shown me those websites before. I have already bought this gear as the weights and sizes were right, and it seemed a good board due to the features, and just bought the boots n bindings in the links too. What u think of the gear? Is it good gear? Im well worried ive made a mistake buying them now cos the guys who messaged before

Im hoping to work at Thredbo, but anywhere is good. I doubt I will be able to get an instructor job as i have no qualifications.

I agree totally with Azzie!

Oh and Azzie, APSI do them. I don't know how they compare to BASI & CASI etc though. NZ might be better. http://www.apsi.net.au/page8.html

Uve just made me sad lol. Its good gear though? Im a confident boarder and want some gear to grow into and learn 2 appreciate the features more. Im still learning to grind well anyway so that wont be a problem, im working on my freestyle tricks when carving down the mountain. U dont think its good gear?

Thats a huge amount of money to pay on gear you haven't tried out first!!!!

How do you find flows?? Have you considered you might get a better more responsive pair of bindings with ratchet straps??

And can you grind rails on a magnatraction board?? I'd have thought it would be more difficult??

and....well....I'm not saying anything about boots. Its all on here try them on first!!

Good luck with the course though...who does instructor courses over there??

Yeah sorry i should be more precise. I have only used crap rental boards before, but i carve down the mountain confidently on those boards. I feel confident going down the mountains at speed on my regular side, not so confident on fakie. I have however decided to go for the Lib tech board, i spoke to somone i went snowboarding with last time I went and they said it may be a little advanced for me, but as i improve my skills i will appreciate the features more n more and it shouldnt hinder me. This is the setup i went for, what do you think?;

BOARD: http://www.bargainboards.co.uk/P/Lib-Tech-SKUNK-APE-MTX-Snowboard(7415).aspx
BOOTS: http://www.bargainboards.co.uk/P/Northwave-LEGEND-SL2-Snowboard-Boots(6526).aspx
BINDINGS: http://www.bargainboards.co.uk/P/Flow-NXT-FS-Snowboard-Bindings(6939).aspx

Cheers for your help guys. Just wonder what you think of my choices Broke the bank though hehe.

Thanks

I can do all the basics on the slopes and am learning to do tricks at the moment

This is such a huge range of ability, it doesn't give any idea of what level you're at. Are you tentative and skidding your turns? In which case you prob still only want an intermediate board. Are you really confident and charging down all slopes with carved turns? You'll need something a bit more advanced.

Also giving people an idea of what you've used before will help with suggestions. If you've only used crap rental boards you certainly don't want to be jumping straight to an advanced board without trying one out first. Have you tried magnetraction boards before?

Hey, thanks for the responce. I havent bought anything yet. I am going to buy all board bindings and boots together. I like to slice it up down the slopes all day but am trying 2 learn to do tricks, i can do basic tricks but am trying to master them, eventualy I would like to move onto parks and grind rails etc. I like light boards as i find it easier to move and do tricks. Im moving to teh snowy mountains in Auz (only place tehre is snow). I really like the look of the Libtech board, and all the features seem really nice, the other board has similar features but it doesnt seem as high quality, I want to make sure I buy the right gear for me and not jump in too quick and regret it later, thus im trying to do a bit of research. I seem to have narrowed my search down to those boards, but i cant decide. What do u think?

Many thanks

Howdy Satch

Just some quick questions to help:

Where do you ride mostly or want to ride? Park, Powder, All Mountain etc?
Have you already bought boots? As these are more important then spending large coin on a board?

Buying a great board is what you are trying to do. Lib tech may have the reputation of making good boards but that doesnt make it a great board for you.

Where are you heading in Oz?

Hey guys, basicaly im not a complete beginner but this is my first time buying a snowboard. I am moving to Auz to hopfuly do a snowboard instructor course at the end of this month and want to buy my own board for it.

Ive had a browse around and have found a couple i like the look of. I weight 11.5 stone, i am 6ft and size 11-12 UK feet. I can do all the basics on the slopes and am learning to do tricks at the moment. These are the two boards I have found that I really like the look of, and i just need some guidance on which one to go for (or another if anyone knows of better options)

http://www.sierrasnowboard.com/2008-Gnu-CHB-Wide-MTX-SCND-37819.asp
and
http://www.bargainboards.co.uk/P/Lib-Tech-SKUNK-APE-MTX-Snowboard(7415).aspx

The cost is not really a factor, i just want the best board for my money. I was told in a chat room that the lib tech is for advanced riders and i would not learn anything on it, which i dont understand how buying a great board would hinder me? I want a light board cos i hate heavier boards. Basicaly, which board do you guys think would best suit me? They are both the right sizes as far as i can make out, i just dont know which to go for.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Cheers
