QUOTE (Silver Star - 25/11/2008 @ 23:28:27) Trouble with that is that some boards have BOTH camber and rocker! The 09 Fish for example. Well then they can't join any gang and are just considered outcasts and misfits, a bit punkish really |

QUOTE (bstrong - 25/11/2008 @ 23:23:54) Might just make a split in the whole "snowboard scene" and instead of the "ski vs snowboarder" we'll have "camber'ers vs rocker'ers" Just like Brighton Beach in 1964 |

QUOTE (bstrong - 25/11/2008 @ 23:09:34) Might be a fad but the banana's the best board I've had a ride on for 16 years, I think there might be something in it? I've ridden the banana and the jamie lynn and they are both really nice boards the banana was really really fun but it just didn't grab me to buy one
i'm just going to sit and watch and see where the banana/rocker/v-rocker what ever it's called takes us. i think it's going to get more interesting before it fizzles out or totally blows up like a WMD |

Sorry probably my fault again I like riding burton boards but i do think the V rocker is a bit of a desperate mid season effort just coz they haven't got a rocker I personally think the rocker thing is a fad and we'll all be banging on about something different in 4 or 5 seasons time. Remember Clicker and Switch bindings i bet there's some people out there that bought them when they first came out saying that they they were the shnizle, went and bought a Sk8 banana last or this season If you look at snowboard design progression, it started with rockers then they picked up the "ski camber". Might be a fad but the banana's the best board I've had a ride on for 16 years, I think there might be something in it?
Step-in bindings always sucked and no-one ever said they were good, pros just used them 'cus they got payed more money to ride them. |

At least on that forum you'll be getting some sort of answer to your initial question. ... I wouldn't go that far! You have to separate the wheat from the chaff on any online forum and BMB can be pretty much a flame fest at times but, yes, there are some decent reviews there (and not just about Burton gear).
I don't give a rats ass if you don't like Burton, Arbor (a favourite brand of derision on BMB by the way) snurfers or toboggans - just give us whatever rationale you have based your opinion on is all I ask. |

Ah yes, Burton Forums. Nut-swinging at its finest.
If you look hard enough for the answer you want you're bound to eventually find it. |

Damn, you beat me to it...yeah how about that Snow Surf review eh? waaaaay better than the Transworld review...
Honestly run a search on the Burton community board. As people ride them they post their own 2 cents worth, some more helpfull and informative than others. At least on that forum you'll be getting some sort of answer to your initial question. Read it and make up your own mind. |

I'm not necessarily disagreeing with that but what makes Snow Surf a more reliable source? Good point. In their big board test they did praise a few Burton boards and did a good job patting all their advertisers on the back at some stage. I disagreed with quite a lot of their reviews and especially the way they classified boards, but there were others that were spot-on. Different strokes I guess.
For their rocker board test they didn't really test the boards against each other and there was no big prize at the end. It was more like they were giving their $.02 on how they rode. At the end they did give special mention the the WWW ltd, Evo-R, and I think the Jib Stick (it may have been the SB). |

QUOTE (MrSSK - 25/11/2008 @ 21:44:39) No sexy chicks in nylons gets me off! But what are we expected to think? all you seem to go on about is how many boards you have broken and how sh*t burton boards are. If you not a pro and not 20 stone then how do you smash so much stuff? if your not doing 20 set hand rails 50 cliff drops AK lines or throwing your board like pat moor how the FOOK do you smash it? That's all I go on about in Burton threads. If people keep buying sub-par products then the companies have no reason to change them. Take a look at US car manufacturers.
To be honest I'm not entirely sure how I've broken so much equipment. I suppose that when you ride 100+ days on the same slopes you start looking for silly things to do and new places to go. Most breaks have happened just riding piste with a few notable exceptions off-piste. Working in shops and being riding with other shop guys also gives good insight into what breaks and how frequently (05/06 Rome binding discs for example). |

Trying desperately (but likely unsuccessfully) to keep this thread on topic:
QUOTE (Grill - 25/11/2008 @ 21:28:13) ...This months Snow Surf has a review on the Hero. They've basically come to the conclusion that it's a mediocre rush job. There are also reviews of the SB, WWW ltd, Evo-R, SC Jib Stick, and Artifact 1985. I recall you trashing TWS in another thread saying, essentially, that their reviews were biased and that they toadied to their advertisers. I'm not necessarily disagreeing with that but what makes Snow Surf a more reliable source? |

QUOTE (kinchy - 25/11/2008 @ 20:26:21) Grill, did you invent snowboarding or something? Are you the only person in the world to have ever ridden more than one board? Do you have anything positive/helpful to say? At all?

Seriously bro. Read through my posts and you'll find that I'm very helpful. Like everyone here I have opinions (no way!). The fact that I'm passionate and vocal with them speaks more to my character than anything.
Now what exactly can I help you with son? |
