All very sad. The first response/reply to the article on the link is interesting.
I happened to be there the week after she went missing. They looked very hard for this border. They shut down the mountain in sections and called in several specialized search teams from the surrounding communities. They sent a helicopter up there every day that I was there for one week. I give full credit to the effort that went into looking for her.
This is story is so sad. I also have skied seventh heaven where she went missing and it has several well travelled runs. The area she went missing was in the off limit areas. A couple of years ago while I was skiing there, a mountain host warned not to go to off boundary in this area because you can go missing that they won't find you until the spring. It looks like she went to a basin where you have to take the skiis or board off and walk. That area is particularly dangerous since it isn't well travelled. I do know the feeling of doing one good last run as well so I do know what she was thinking. Also that week there was a huge amount of snowfall that we haven't seen at that particular time for over 10 years. She was likely trying to enjoy the snow. |

| Sounds dodgy, if she wouldn't go out of bounds then I can't see how she could get so lost. Maybe hit a tree in the run out from xiggys meadow or whatever it's called and couldn't get back to the piste, or went too low, hit a tree and didn't come round quick enough. Scary stuff for sure. |

| i think at the bottom of the valley is fitzsimmons creek which if you follow will take you back to the village. maybe she stacked it near the boundary or something freakish like that cos that boundary is well marked |

The police are reported as saying according to her friends she was an intermediate boarder who knew her limits and wouldn't venture out of bounds.
I'm therefore wondering how it is possible to accidentally end up where she did?
Edited Later: isn't that link posted to that of the glacier bowl? She can't of got lost there? |

if she was found past the bottom of the 7th heaven express then she'd have been out of bounds. apparently she was reported missing about 2 days before we arrived and there were posters all over blackcomb mountain asking to get in contact if she'd been seent but that she'd actually been missing for 5 days before her family/friends reported it to the authorities

Sad news from Whistler.
http://www.cbc.ca/canada/british-columbia/story/2008/04/07/bc-missing-snowboarder-found.html
I was wondering if anybody knows where this water basin at the bottom of 7th Heaven is that is mentioned? I don't know of any water basins. And what is meant by this sentence "she succumbed to the cold weather before she had a chance to get up and out of the area where she landed"
Does "Before she had the chance" mean she was out of bounds and didn't have the time to find her way back in bounds? |
