ive has some boas for 4 years or so, they have been no problems. i like them a lot.
laces are fine too, but you should try something new, or you will be an old fuddy duddy, stuck in your ways, still using laces and straps, when we are all using special nano-magnets instead of bindings. |

Well,
At the end of the day it comes down personal preference I feel. I stick to the lace system as I can do the up really fast.
I looked at boas about 4 years ago, but I am sure the technology has increased since then. Give em a go, what can you lose?
Have you been able to test run any of them at all?? |

Check out the Danny Kass Vans for Power strapness!
In my experience every pair of Boas used for a prolonged period seem to pop open on big landings or leans. Stick with the laces... cross.. loop.. wrap.. loop.. pull, then repeat  |

That's what I like about the command liner in my Super Parks. The Power Strap can be pulled really tight and then the velcro holds it in place.

| Think im sold on laces or the other lacing system more than Boa's now but as has been mentioned, got to try them all. Now to find some time to get down to tamworth to try some out. :S |

This illustrates why boot choice is so individual...
I have K2 Raider Boas and find they fit perfectly, are super comfortable, I get no heel lift and can crank it tight with no pinch points - inner and outer boot.
i did replace the rubbish footbed with a superfeet one which made a world of difference.
My only issue with them is that I find them a bit too soft as I am about 15st when geared up, occasionally when hooning it I feel my ankle can flex too much - I think I need more support. (not that it is relevant to this convo...)
I love BOAs but don't think they have any advantage over other speed lacing systems like salomon or burton's. I would pick any one of these speed systems over traditional laces. |

With all boots, it's dependant on your feet. I tried boas, but I didn't like them as I like my toe box loose, but my ankle and shin tight. With boas you can't do this, unless you have the dual boas.
Bods also makes a good point in that the inner is the most important part. Wildebeest chucked his outers and stuck the inners in his old outers.  |

| yeah thats what i mean its hard to lock the laces in that while still having the boot fairly loose as i like alot of flex when im riding. you have to kinda give yourself some slack with the lace and kinda hold the bottom half and pull it through so theres lace to spare after it locks. i probably explained that horribly but yeah i have that locking thing. |

Yep, I ride with 5 season old salomon malamutes and the lacing system has never let me down. i like the idea of Boa's but it's really not difficult with the Salomon's lacing system so I don't think I'd gain anything.
Bit like al these fancy new bindings ("strap in", k2 cinch, k2 auto etc) don't have any problems with the traditional kit so why bother with potentially unreliable gimmicks. |

Got K2 Raider BOA's and whilst they are a cinch to put on and tighten up quickly without losing skin from your palms of your hands, like traditional laces....I've come to the conclusion, its all about the Inner boot - the K2 raiders inners are CACK!!!
The K2 inner thats in my boots, doesn't close in around the ankles, consequently, I can't tighten the boot in the places where it needs to be tighter....thus, my conclusion is, Inspect the Inner boot, more than the outer - as that is where comfort is won or lost...
BOA is a good system, but I'm not sure I'd have it again - looking at the salomon or burton fast lace/quickdraw system I think, for next season!  |

having spent about 6 weeks in a pair of Vans Cirro's this season i would say that that the dual boa system is awesome, total adjustment
BUT the boots packed out and were not as comfy overall than laces
the jury is still out!!!! |

Not sure if yours are like this or not (seemed to be new for this season) but there's a...thing (um, triangular bit of plastic) at the top (above the top lace hooks in the middle) to lock the laces into. Not tried riding with them loose so you may well have this and it doesn't work for that, but it looks like it might. |

| yup, i moved onto a pair of salamon dialogues after my encores and theyre great, really light and the lacing system is great, although if you want to wear them loose like i do it takes a bit of time to get the laces to stay loose as the lacing system requires you to pull it tight for it to lock. but you cant get them loose at the top but putting in the laces a certain way while still having the foot and ankle tight. |
