QUOTE (Mosh'n Ride - 08/07/2008 @ 15:47:22) I think the real issue is not much which station, more to know the good offpiste of the station you going to, and obviously beeing lucky and actually have snow! Totally agree. With the exception of our last trip in March, when it dumped 50+ cm of snow on the day we left Morzine for Geneva Airport, we've always had the luck of catching a day's pow. Guess I've been lucky?
My first boarding trip 4-5 years ago was a week in Sainte Foy in France, which I now totally appreciate has some awesome off-piste. Went back a year later but did not have the kit and the skills to go seriously off-piste.
I've only ever boarded in the French Alps (ignoring dipping into Switzerland from Avoriaz) so was thinking a trip to Austria or Italy might be on the cards. Hence interest in what resorts if any match up to the Morzine/Avoriaz domain. |

| The off piste is the best part of St Anton, as it's very skier orientated and the runs can get very mogulled. Few hooning runs. |

QUOTE (DrSnowboard - 05/07/2008 @ 15:25:38) I went to St Anton in Austria andI have to say fantastic off piste! however it is not as boarder friendly in my opnion as Morzine Avoriaz mainly because there are hardly any snowboarders there. I know Avoriaz well and would say the resort overall is better from variety of runs and terrain but if its off piste your mainly after I would give St Anton a whirl. Yeah St Anton is amazing for off piste but after spending a season in Verbier i have to say its one of the best you can get in Europe great off piste everywhere with as little hiking as you want |

How adventurous do you want to get?
The best off piste I've ever had was snowboarding Gulmarg, Kashmir, India.
Of course, you've got to watch out for the monkeys and machineguns... |

It's cold, it's raining and I've already had my Summer holiday.....
So.... it's now time to pencil in our plans for next years boarding trips.
We're thinking Austria. Does Austria offer anything as good as Avoriaz/Morzine? |
