| Check out my youtube profile - same name as my username here for various examples of WMM vids. I like it, but it depends how expert you want to go. For ease of use it's amazing. |

In answer to your earlier question - I (or exige - I only did Japow) used premiere for the vids in my link.
If I remember correctly, WMM doesn't let you have fine control over the speed of clips, I think you can only double or half the playback speed. This can cause problems when trying to sync video with music.
You also can't have lots of different layers of video and text overlaying each other.
Just give it a try - it's easy peasy. |

| I made a 9 minute vid on movie maker of my last holiday but when I try to convert it to a movie file it crashes. Is very annoying cos i thought my laptop would be ok. It's a dell inspiron 6400 with 1GB RAM. does anyone know how I could get around this? |

Yeah it'll let you put an audio track over a sequence of clips and adjust the volume levels, and you can make your cuts as short or as long as you like.
The difference between this and splicing actual film, is that digital editing is non-linear. Splicing is linear meaning that if you want to make a change to an edit, then you'd have to re-edit everything from that point onwards, whereas with digital you can add, remove or arrange clips without having to re-do everything after that point. |

is WMM ok for synching music over various seperate cuts?
can I do a series of 1 second cuts?
I'm intrigues I haven't done editting since college and that was in the days of umatic tape or 16mm film splicing |

| WMM will be fine for you tubing stuff. I'm about to immerse myself into Final Cut Pro - but as Rachel said, you'll only need Premiere or something similar if you want lots of detailed control. |

Depends how fancy you want to get with your editing.
The cheapest and easiest is Windows Movie Maker - supplied free.
Personally, I want more control so I use Adobe Premier Pro - it is neither cheap (unless you get a free copy) or particularly easy to use, but it's the muts nuts.
I have tried some of the cheaper packages that people have recommended and found them all to be pants. |
