I'm booking a week in Tamworth. Would probably cost more than going to the Alps! |

"Try getting out of Chamonix to Geneva for less than €35 each. Train, coach and private transfer are all the same price"
Theres quite a lot of variation - Bus is € 58 return.
Transfer goes from €19.50 single from Alpybus (but you do risk potential unreliability) via €25 (most of the others) to €170 for private transfer which you may have to do if they can't fill it - for instance in low season.
The train is the cheapest at about £7 but the slowest as you have to change up to four times :/Takes around 2 hrs 45 mins. |

The transfers are exepensive but there are a few websites you can go to for winter bus routes which will save you some money but not a lot. You may have already done this..
There are altibus, agbus and the aeroski bus they all leave from the main ski resort aiports in France and cost between 50 - 70 euro return.
You can also look at the private transfer companies like alpline and the cool bus which charge around €40 euro per person one way but at least you'll have a minibus to a max of 8 all to yourself.
The other option is to look for a company that has free tarnsfers as part of your holiday, like us.
Hope you get it sorted

Probably the reason the permit costs $130. If everyone paid it could be $5. |

We dont bother with a permit either. Just park the car out of the way and it will be fine. |

QUOTE (tekilla - 11/04/2008 @ 21:21:49) It's no different in Banff - if you don't have Transfers included, you're looking at $100 return (more in peak season) from the airport in Calgary. Unless you're prepared to hire a car and have all the hassle of snow chains and paying silly high deposits, then the minibus is the way forward. Don't moan, just get on with your holiday !! James, not forgetting the charge to enter Banff National Park if you do rent a car, which I think is about $130!! |

As everyone else has said it's the going rate and it does get you door to door at the time that you want to be there.
Try getting out of Chamonix to Geneva for less than €35 each. Train, coach and private transfer are all the same price.
I would actually say the UK was the rip off...
Based on my recent jollies 2 x 20 minute taxi rides - £50 2 hour(each way) return coach ticket to LHR - £35 1.25 hour return flight to Frankfurt - £68 return 3 weeks in an RV - €1200 |

i've seen some sites that were charging €150 for return so for your transfer at €90 that's v v v reasonable. at the end of the day there's no point complaining about it cos that's the price it is and you can't really change it, so it's as they say TOUGH lol
however, i was looking for transfers and came across this company/site.... very reasonable and i would pay it most definitely for the 1.5hr transfer from Grenoble to L2A
