ipods are fine!! mine has lasted me over a few years!! the reason i'd replace it is to upgrade it to a bigger memory!! ive also taken a few wipeouts with it but had no problems!!  !! |

| Just bought an MP3 player from MP3players.co.uk, really cool site. I thought about an ipod but wasn't sure about the battery life, heard lately that it dies completely within 18 months, also because it's got moving parts it might skip/jump etc... so opted for a cheaper solid state player, only has 512mb card but I've got about 22 albums on it already and I reckon I could get 2 or 3 more on it. Also only takes 1 AAA battery and it's really small and light too. Well pleased with it, haven't boarded with it yet but off to Cervinia, Italy in 3 weeks so I'll see then. |

Don't talk to me about Soulwax and Fabric. What a farce!  We queued for about an hour and a half only then to be told the club was full and it would be 2 to 4 hours until we would be in! Got horrendously drunk in The Charterhouse instead... |

It would appear I am very impatient as I went out and bought a 20Gb iPod yesterday! It's wicked! 2605 songs on it so far... 
I also found out that the FireWire port on my PC does power so I can charge it through the dock with just one cable! |

I have the 30G model, and have at last count 2452 songs which = 9.34GB, so not even 1/3 full. That is all my cd collection... and I thought I had a large one  .
I would recommend going for the 10G, unless you have a huge collection, or are gonna use it as an external hard drive. The more songs you have on the i-pod, the slower it searches.
Dont worry about battery life, I switch mine on at 8am, ride a whole day and it's still going at 5pm, continual use.

120Gb - I go tthe 40Gb model at crimbo - its over 1/2 full. Cos I do the odd Gig (as a Rock DJ) its useful to take my entire collection with me and its alot easier like this!!

Ah cool, i've got an Atrac discman at the mo - which is really great for battery's and disc capacity - around 28-30 albums per regular cdr. Means I can get my entire CD collection in a small cd disc wallet. I ride my mountain bike with it and it's never skipped on me...
But the iPod does sound cool! |

40gb would be a waste of time
The ipod can be used to store files (i.e. illustrator, photoshop,word blah blah blah) on as well as mp3's. So it can double up as a storage device as well as an mp3 player - handy if you need to take work home with you. So the 40Gb may be a waste of time if you're only using it to play music.

Mine's 80 large Jimbo. And I thought that was average nowadays! (It's almost full too  )
Luke, you can do loads with iPods! So long as the ID3 tags on the songs are complete that is. There are playlists but you can also play by artist, album, genre, year, track title... even BPM! |

I mean that's the thing - if I was going to get one I'd get the 10gb because I don't need that much space - the 40gb would be a waste of time because all I'd do is rip my entire CD collection onto it on the off chance that one day I might want to listen to Whigfield on a chairlift somewhere, but at the same time I can't justify spending that much more...
