In all my 24 years of snowboarding I've only ridden in Les 2Aples for two days. Many of my friends have had a week there and have vowed to never go back. I can think of way more negatives than positives and I certainly wont be booking a budget trip there. If the Snow is good Serre Che just up the road is infinetly better and the Whole Milky way has some great uncrowded riding too. I think where Les 2Alpes shines is for the summer camps, but snowboarding in the summer isn't my thing.

I have been there 3 times and have promised myself never to go back. The problem is you can get bargain trips there that I find hard to refuse. I feel the same as fatbob, the length of the trip up is not worth the zip down. In bad conditions my riding has usually been limited to the pistes everytime I have been there unless you have a rock board and you are stupid. La Grave sounds appealing and is something I want to conquer in the right condition.
As for the clip I can't watch it at work but I can imagine what its like. We went 2 years ago in December/ January and a storm came in quickly. Conditions dropped from about -20 to -40 very quickly while going up to the mid point on a chair lift. One of the cable cars up to the top got frozen stuck and was inoperable, and it was too windy and white out to ride to the station so we had to walk a trail to mid point in the hope of getting down safely. |

| I prefer to ride in the PDS, but then again my old man does have a pad in Champery on the Swiss side. |

| Crazy isn't it, testament to the lift system thought that it withstood such a battering. Thing is you have to ask why did the lift company not shut down the system a lot earlier to avoid this? I was in resort and didn't go up as it was too windy at that level. |

Fair play fatbob, I suppose that's what you face when riding in one of the highest resorts in Europe, but you can take the other lift networks to the top rather than the Jandri Express, which probably takes around 25-35mins. It's getting down is the fun part, what about the varied off piste opportunities?

| Nope, I think Les 2 Alpes in the winter is overrated. Takes 45mins to an hour to get up top and that's without queues. That's my main gripe with the place. You just can't get up there and ride. |

Check out the footage on the following link. This happened in Summer 2007 season, people including some pro UK riders were stuck in the cabins for 6 hours taking a reeeet battering. Check it out and post your comments?
Have you been to Les Dexu Alpes? I go every year, love the place. Would be great to hear from any other boarders who rate the resort and spend time out there as well.  |
