Has anyone any tips on places to go at night? Good eateries and bars etc

Also, can you pre book your lift pass? or do you buy from a kiosk once there??

I'm a beginner and have only been away once - to Bansko a couple of years ago. People mostly seem to love it or hate it. The impression is that it's not as good as other places but it's cheap. I liked it but I can't compare it to anywhere else but i'm going back on 14th March if there's any snow left - bit warm out there at the moment.

I pre-booked lift passes before and have done it again as everyone says it cheaper. For beer and food, we headed down to the old town area. Stick to the Mehanas and go for the local food - I thought it was really good if you're willing to give it a try - local dishes like Kavarma and Kapama (forgive spelling) were pretty good. You can just go to these for a beer too and it was really cheap although i've heard it's gone up a bit since I was last there. The Happy End Bar near the Gondola was more lively (more like a bar) but the prices were higher but still not as much as UK. We'd come off the Gondola to the Happy End for a couple of slurps then back out later in the old town - sorry, can't remember any names of Mehanas but one on the left a little way down with a sort of garden out front was popular and we ate there a couple of times.

My opinion - don't blame me if you don't like it.

hey - went to Bansko 2 years ago around this time of year. It is a good resort, not in the same league as some of the top resorts in the ALps, but then again it is not in the same price range either!! It is much cheaper, yet still very enjoyable.

There are plenty of runs to keep beginners and early intermediate riders amused for a week. Not much for those looking for extensive off piste or steep blacks though. For everyone else, there are really good cruising blue and red runs, and a decent park.

In terms of eating out, we didnt find that much choice. Then again, we usually ate in the hotel. You will find that most of the hotels are pretty new and the facilities good.

Best place for beers apres ski is the Happy Ending - opposite the main gondola station where you will finish boarding for the day.

Have a good one.

Anyone know if the snow making machines give good coverage?? The snow reports look a little bleak at the mo... I suppose this is one of the risks Vs the Alps?
