here goes the moan.... step 1...Argos took it back without question = result ..step 2 Replacment camcorder has ALL pixels intact = Result...........step 3......new camcorder has a grainy screen?.....and unlike the first one i had......cant seem to hold focus when fully zoomed even on 3 quarter zoom?.= Bad Result......i did the same test on the same object form the same position at the same setting.....but nowhere near the same result....... now i am in another spot......was i just very lucky that the first cam had a crystal clear screen and perfect clear focus (continuing even through the whole zoom process, not bluring once?) even though it had dead pixels...............or should they ALL be like that and im just very unlucky that the replacement is not doing this??.....how many trips to our friends at Argos will i need to take before i get the even bigger hump than i have now?

p.s i am of the the same school of thought as Philw, you pay good money, you should get an item that works as it should
i wanna kick the shit out of something......

can anyone throw any light onto this new development??

cheers

Andy (Pissed off)

My view is that if I buy something which claims to have (say) 2560x1600 pixels, then I expect them all to work. Every single one of the advertised pixels should deliver. I know that suppliers have tried to slide out of this, but I don't give a stuff and if I bought all those pixels, I want them all to work, end of story. I believe that the law backs that, although I'd be hugely polite and not expect to have to resort to it. You may need to stick to your guns for a while especially with shop assistants...

Argos will definately take it back. Think it may be something to do with it being classed as mail order. Someone at uni used to buy a games console use it for 28 days and then take it back.

cheers guys for the feedback so far,

latest update is, one of my students is an LCD technition.....and he told me to take it back....he said the old "dead pixel" rule was changed a while back due to (his words) stores fed up telling people the manufacturer would not accept them back, and therefor getting all the stick and hassel..........now aparentyl ALL LCD's with ANY kind of dead pixel probelm are taken back without question........well lets hope so

now believe it or not after trying to get my Camcorder all over london without much luck... (Jessops telling me its SO new they dont have it in yet?but it's coming into the store very soon ).... i ended up getting it of all places in ...........ARGOS

and they normally take things back without a wimper??.....so ill see what happens

Andy.

Take it back. You won't need a firewire card if your laptop/computer already has one fitted, which it sounds like it does (IEEE 1394).

Hi daywalker.

The firewire card allows youto transfer/copy your films form your vid cam without this ( so i got told) you cannot. The firewire card is a pcmi card (basically) but it allows a better transfer rate, you can do it via a usb lead but again so i got told the quality is not as good and some work whilst others dont!!

If you are using a laptop you most proberly will need a FIREWIRE "EXPRESS" CARD
The ones that pc world sell only fit into a standard pc

Maybe i have been fed a crock of poo, thats why the questions.

wonder if your model takes the disc and the sg card or is it like mine it takes a small cassette and an sg digi card?

You're right - it's a maximum of 6 dead pixels if the shop really know what they're talking about.
If you take it back to the Saturday boy at Jessops, they'll refund/exchange with no problems (I hope), but a jobsworth or LCD geek will know the rules.
A friend had a PSP with 5 dead pixels, tried to take it back to Game and no luck. *accidently* dropped it, a few more dead pixels appeared and he got his exchange !

3 - 1 so far to the "take it back" viewpoint.......
.....and i tend to agree...
....if it aint working right.......back it.,

but it is a hassel to do that..........but if i dont im excepting a sub quality item.....hmmm

i think i am the type that has to take it back, coz when i look at it its gonna piss me off ad spoil my mood before i even start....but being the pessimist i am.........the main worry is i get one replaced and it has 2 fucking dead pixels in it??

anyone had this prob?......and does it get worse??............i read that re- LCD TV's that they dont have to even take them back if they have less than 8 dead pixels on a screen

Take it back Dude. It will annoy the hell out of you and if you ever decided to upgrade, it will affect the resale value.
