I was wondering the same about my new board too actually, just did a quick google - here's some links I found useful:

http://www.mountainouthouse.com/snowboard_tuning.aspx
http://www.snowboardclub.co.uk/PNphpBB2-viewtopic-t-18099.html
(and the link in that first SCUK reply is now http://www.demonsnow.com/tune.html)

90 is used for greater edge hold - i.e. if you want to ride/carve on piste etc, 88 (or even less) tends to be used for those hitting rails etc - reduces chance of catching an edge.

I would say that for you - just riding piste etc, 90 would be fine and would also give you better hold if it gets icy.

Hi all

was given a file awhile back when i used to ski its red whith 2 files angles on it one is 88 degrees and the other is 90 degree`s most of my rideing is on piste but not to sure what i should file i should use to sharpen my edges.

Also if poss can soneone explain to me why you have 88/90 degrees angles what does one angle to opposed to the other

cheers neil
