You'll love it. Totally different to being in a dome. However getting plenty of practise before you go away will be very helpful.

I don't know anything about the technical stuff but I really enjoyed the video! As a newbie learning in a dome I had no idea what it was like to board down a real mountain. All that space! Can't wait

I guess the moisture's coming from the rider's head if it's mounted up
there.

That might be it. It's funny because it always happened around the same time each day. Really annoying though because we lost allot of good footage due to it.

Ended up using VSO Dixx to DVD to encode onto DVD.

Full version is only 32 mins but 10 mins is the max allowed on youtube. It's more for friends & family who want to see if but don't live local. So I wanted the trailer to be as long as possible.

Thanks for pointing out the spelling error!

Condensation... not something which is usually a problem, as the camera's usually as cold as everything else. Presumably it's the mount, and where it's mounted, which is causing the problem. I guess the moisture's coming from the rider's head if it's mounted up there.

Riding faster may help.

Cheap editing software could make the results look as bad as Microtoss movie make - get a "free" copy of Adobe Premier (IE: bittorrent) or buy a cheapo 2nd hand Mac from eBay and iMovie it.

You'll struggling to stop condensation on the lens. Its the nature of cold air hitting the surface of the glass. You'll find it worse if you take the camera from REALLY warm to REALLY cold, so try and keep the camera somewhere a bit cooler before you go out.

10 minute trailer though...jeepers how long is the final film going to be???

Interesting number of wrong ways to spell Courchevel!!..

Luvvin that Estelle track.. she really can't sing can she but its a top tune..

Surely condensation only occurs when you go indoors - warm damp air meets cold headcam et voila!..

  #1 1st attempt & a few questions.  29/03/2008 @ 21:34:45
My pal who has no IT/AV skills whatsoever decided to buy a head cam for our last trip. Now keeping in mind he had no idea what he was doing, how to wire the damn thing & had no instructions. At the end of the holiday with around 12 hours of footage. The two other lads in the group turn to me & say 'you know a bit about computers, you'll edit it right?' So this is my 1st attempt at video editing, luckily I've got a decent pc.

So I've come up with a 10 min trailer & the full film is 32 mins long. I've stuck a very low res version on youtube just so friends & family & can see it. Although we had no idea, we all really enjoyed it & next time we intend to be much more organised. I'd like to point out that non of us are great boarders btw.

10 Min Trailer

How do we stop condensation on the lens. I'm an astronomer so I know about dew point & wondered if I need to keep the lens warm perhaps?

Any suggestions on good cheap editing software, better than Microsoft movie maker. Also software to convert the final MWV file to a normal DVD format. My PS3 will play it fine, but my pal's have older DVD players.

I think next time we'd be better off taking a hand held cam too. But we need something that's rugged & solid state I guess too.

Thanks

Peter
